Boating World® Boat Reviews: Yamaha 232 Limited S: Limitless Fun

“Yamaha was probably the first company to focus on the total experience with as much attention paid to what passengers might be doing when the boat is at rest as when they are shrieking with delight during dazzling turns and tremendous acceleration. This year, the 232 Limited S takes the total-package theme to the extreme, being the most refined sportboat Yamaha has ever made.”

“It’s hard not to notice the standard forward-swept aluminum tower that gives skiers a great height advantage for towing. To give the standard four-speaker Sony® stereo with MP3 input a crisp high end, there are Kicker® tweeters stealthily built into the tower. Yamaha also used the tower to help revelers extend their leisure time on the water by installing small overhead LED lights to give post-sunset outings more ambiance.”

“Throttle response was instantaneous and jammed us back into the seat as we jump on plane in 2.5 seconds during our test on the St Johns River in downtown Jacksonville, Fla. Time to 30 mph is an impressive 3.9 seconds and we reached a top speed of 48 mph with the four-cylinder, four-strokes turning a furious 10200 rpm.“

“One of the benefits to having a reasonable amount of horsepower is the effect on mileage, and the Yamaha still gives you thrilling performance along with good fuel economy, registering 3.8 mpg at a cruise speed of 28 miles per hour.“

“Going slow isn’t a hassle with the 232 Limited S thanks to its No Wake Mode cruise control system that allows you to sit back and enjoy the scenery rather than constantly having to tweak your speed to keep the local constabulary off your back.”

“Yamaha has already included everything you might want to put on this boat, such as snap-in Berber carpet, a sport tower, a Bimini top and even a color-matched twin-axle trailer.”
