In the largest and broadest product introduction in its history, Yamaha Motor Corp. presented nine new outboard engines from 4 hp to 300 hp at a media event Monday in Chattanooga, Tenn.
"We believe by introducing products now, we're going to catch the market in an upswing," said Phil Dyskow, president of the marine group for Yamaha Motor Corp. "We've got to give customers a reason to buy and a reason to go to boat shows and to visit their dealer. If all we do is discount closeouts and excess products and repossessions, we aren't doing anything to help restart the industry."

Yamaha brings national press to Bridgeport News Channel 9, Chattanooga, TN November 17, 2009
Tuesday dawned dark and dreary, and for two hours the heavens did their best the raise the Tennessee River even higher than it's been. However outdoor writers, boat dealers and marine experts were not deterred. They converged on the tiny town of Bridgeport, Ala. to get a first-hand glimpse at what Yamaha Marine is calling a "revolutionary" line of new outboard engines.
"This is the largest introduction of new motors in the history of Yamaha," according to Dale Barnes, Marketing Manager for Yamaha Marine Group.

Yamaha's new four stroke V6 V MAX SHO a game-changer Bass Zone November 17, 2009
Chattanooga, Tn.- Yamaha Marine Group today launched a four-stroke outboard that can outperform the VMAX Series 2 and promises to revolutionize power in the bass and flats fishing realm. Called the Yamaha VMAX SHO, the family of outboards comprises 250, 225 and 200 horsepower versions.
"With the VMAX SHO, Yamaha has done what everyone said couldn't be done," said Phil Dyskow, Yamaha Marine Group president. "We have a four-stroke that out performs two strokes in many ways and provides best-in-class acceleration."

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Nov. 16) The "game changing" outboards that Yamaha has been teasing us with for two weeks were revealed to the media here this evening, along with three other new models, in what the company is calling its biggest new-product roll-out ever. Topping the list is a new 4.2-liter V6 four-stroke powerhead that will be offered as a high-performance Vmax SHO model in 200-, 225- and 250-hp trim aimed at the bass boat market.

Yamaha introduce largest and broadest new outboard line in it's history IBI Magazine November 17, 2009
Yamaha Marine Group last night publicly unveiled the broadest and largest line of new products in its history. The US division showed five new families of outboards, ranging from four to 350 horsepower, at a press event in Chattanooga, Tennessee, following last week's meeting for US dealers.
Yamaha Marine Group President Phil Dyskow presented 20 new motors as well as new rigging and propellers to about 100 press and Yamaha staff.
Dyskow admitted that it has been a "challenging" year for Yamaha, but said the company wants to put "some excitement back into the market, and bring back consumers to the boat shows."

Late Monday Yamaha Marine Group came to Chattanooga to announce the biggest product launch in the company's history. The launch includes nine new outboards that officials say "reach new levels of reliability and overall customer satisfaction."
"Customer satisfaction is a moving target," said Phil Dyskow, President, Yamaha Marine Group. "It includes expectations about power, performance and comfort – issues such as sound level and vibration – and, of course, the reliability of the outboard. A brand that wants to be on the top in customer satisfaction can't ignore any aspect of the product. Consumers want it all, and we have to deliver."
