GRANT Application Examples
Here are examples of a variety of GRANT applications.

Organization: Federal Public Land Agency

Project: Install trail signs on 20 miles of OHV trails. Install fencing to protect watershed area from inadvertent OHV use. Reprint property trail maps.

GRANT Request: $18,750 to purchase and install 50 directional trail signs, 8,000-feet of fencing material as well as cover production and printing costs of new map.

Application: Form was complete with back up documentation provided including letters of support from local Yamaha dealer and local OHV riding groups. Yamaha logo to be featured on signs, fencing and new map as well as local ATV riding group web sites.

Review Committee Decision: Approved

Organization: Local ATV riding group

Project: Hire a seasonal trail specialist to perform routine trail
maintenance and patrol on regional U.S. Forest Service property.
GRANT Request: $12,500 for salary and donation of a Yamaha Rhino 450.

Application: Did not provide an accounting of the salary, nor did it include a letter of support from the U.S.F.S. property manager.

Review Committee Decision: Denied pending detail on budget/salary and submission of supporting documentation. Applicant informed that the Access Initiative does not donate Yamaha product. Applicant referred to law enforcement loan program as an option for unit needs.

Organization: County ATV riding group

Project: Enhance OHV area to create a destination for outdoor/adventure tourism as part of a
multi-county effort for a 2,000 mile trail system.

GRANT Request: $9,200 to purchase equipment, signage and building materials Application: Detailed how GRANT would be spent and provided all of the required documentation. Included Yamaha logo on trailhead signage, web site, event banners as well as a
local media outreach campaign to announce the award.

Review Committee Decision: Approved

Organization: Local snowmobile riding club

Project: Snowmobile youth safety education classes

GRANT Request: $5,000 for workshop materials and instructor fees

Application: Form was complete. Supporting documentation provided. Budget detailed and Yamaha sponsorship adequately recognized.

Review Committee Decision: Denied. Applicant was referred to national specialty vehicle association’s safety programs for funding and informed that the scope of their project was too narrow/seasonal for the OHV Access Initiative and that national programs are in place for supporting club’s goals/objectives.
