ELIGIBILITY: The SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown Presented by Yamalube (“Bike Show”) is open to legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia, except residents of Hawaii, Puerto Rico and any other US territories and possessions, who are of majority in their legal state of residence (and at least 18 years of age or older) and existing owners of an eligible Yamaha sport bike which has been customized by the owner. Employees of Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. (“Yamaha”), its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, dealerships and advertising and promotion agencies, and members of their immediate family (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and persons living in the same household of such employees, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win an award. Void in Hawaii, Puerto Rico and other US territories and possession and where prohibited by law. Bike Show is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.
HOW TO ENTER: Visit yamaha-motor.com/customshowdown, complete the entry form and follow the directions provided to submit it along with a photo of your Yamaha SuperSport Bike. Photograph should be of the bike only. Photos can be submitted in JPEG, GIF, TIFF or BMP formats, must be at least 1,000 pixels wide and must be landscape orientation. Enrollment is free. All entries must be received by 11:59 PM ET on June 27, 2012 for Laguna Seca MotoGP (closed to entries) or by 11:59 PM ET on July 17, 2012 for Indianapolis MotoGP (closed to entries) to be eligible. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. Limit one (1) entry per person/email address per eligible Yamaha SuperSport Bike. All entries become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.
Entrant must be the sole owner of the Yamaha sport bike submitted. Photograph must be entrant’s own original work, be in keeping with Yamaha’s image and may not be offensive, as determined by Yamaha in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights or any other third party rights. Yamaha reserves the right to disqualify any entry it deems to be offensive, inappropriate, not in keeping with Yamaha’s image or that is otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules, in its sole discretion.
By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that Yamaha may post his/her photo entry together with model, year and other information about the bike and entrant, as determined by Yamaha in its sole discretion, on yamaha-motor.com/customshowdown for viewing by visitors to the website.
Winning bikes from the 2011 U.S. MotoGP contest are not eligible to win the 2012 U.S. MotoGP contest.
JUDGING: All eligible entries received by Sponsor will be judged by a panel of qualified judges based equally on the following criteria: creativity, use of accessories, originality, and extent of customization. Bike of the Month entries will be judged by anyone with a valid email address. When you go to the web address yamaha-motor.com/customshowdown , you will be asked to register and then you will be permitted to vote. Voting is limited to 1 per month. Winner can only be selected as a winner once. In the event of a tie, an additional “tie-breaking” judge will determine the winner based on the criteria listed herein. Judges’ decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to not award all prizes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries.
Potential winners will be notified by telephone, mail and/or email and be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release (unless prohibited by law), which must be returned within fourteen (14) days of date appearing on prize notification. Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable, failure to execute and return requested documentation within fourteen (14) days of date appearing on prize notification, or noncompliance with these Official Rules by a potential winner will result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s discretion; the prize may be awarded to a runner-up. If any potential winner is an eligible minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, prize may be awarded in the name of the parent or legal guardian, who will be required to fulfill all eligibility requirements set forth herein and, accompany minor winner, if so required by Sponsor.
BIKE OF THE MONTH: Each month of the contest one (1) winner will receive Yamaha apparel. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $100. Total ARV of all prizes: $1200. No substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent or prize is permitted, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. Any and all taxes on the prize, and any other costs and expenses associated with acceptance and use of a prize not explicitly stated herein as being awarded, including any costs and expenses associated with travel, meals, etc., are the sole responsibility of the winners. All prize details are at the sole discretion of Sponsor
MOTO GP TICKETS: For the Laguna Seca MotoGP; One Hundred (100) Winners will each receive: two (2) 2012 U.S. MotoGP Race General Admission tickets at Laguna Seca (scheduled to take place July 27-29, 2012 in Monterey, CA). Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $150. Total ARV of Laguna Seca MotoGP prizes: $15,000 (closed to entries). For the Indianapolis MotoGP; Fifty (50) Winners will each receive: two (2) 2012 U.S. MotoGP Race General Admission tickets at Indianapolis (scheduled to take place August 27-19, 2012 in Indianapolis, IN). Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $150. Total ARV of Indianapolis MotoGP prizes: $7,500 (closed to entries). General Admission tickets are subject to terms and conditions as specified by issuer. Seat locations will be determined by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to remove or to deny entry to any winner and/or guest who engages in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person at the race. No substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent of prize is permitted, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. Any and all taxes on the prize, and any other costs and expenses associated with acceptance and use of a prize not explicitly stated herein as being awarded, including any costs and expenses associated with travel to/from the race and dinner, are the sole responsibility of the winners. All prize details are at the sole discretion of Sponsor.
CUSTOM SHOWDOWN: Twenty (20) entrants total (ten (10) entrants per venue) will be selected by a panel comprised of Yamaha employees. Winning entrants will be invited to bring their sport bikes to the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown presented by Yamalube at the following onsite venues:
Redbull U.S. Grand Prix Laguna Seca, CA July 27 – 29, 2012
Redbull U.S. Grand Prix Indianapolis, IN August 17 – 19, 2012
Entrants selected to attend the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown will be invited to bring their Yamaha sport bike to attend the above listed venue located closest to their home. Entrants attending one of the above listed venues will be provided with a three hundred dollar ($300) check to assist with travel expenses. Entrants will receive the check on site at the round of the Bike Show in which they attend. Entrants who have been selected and who agree to attend the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown on site at any of the above listed venues compete for three (3) different awards in three (3) categories. The following categories will be judged by the public and will receive the designated award:
Best Yamaha R6 – trophy prize, a two hundred fifty dollar ($250) Yamaha Accessories Gift Card, and a feature in Superstreet Bike Magazine.
Best Yamaha R1 – trophy prize, a two hundred fifty dollar ($250) Yamaha Accessories Gift Card, and a feature in Superstreet Bike Magazine.
Open Class Amateur Builder – trophy prize, a five hundred dollar ($500) Yamaha Accessories Gift Card, and a feature in Superstreet Bike Magazine
Amateur builders who attend one of the rounds of the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown and win one of the three awards listed above will be automatically eligible to win the title of “Yamaha Amateur Builder of the Year”. The two winning amateur builders from each of the two rounds of the Bike Show will have photos of their motorcycles posted online at yamaha-motor.com from September 1, 2012 through November 15, 2012 where consumers will be able to view the photos and vote for their favorite motorcycle. motorcycle. A total of five (5) amateur builders will be eligible to win “Yamaha Amateur Builder of the Year.” The amateur builder who receives the highest number of combined online votes will be declared the “Yamaha Amateur Builder of the Year,” and will receive a trophy prize and one thousand dollars ($1000 cash), as well as a cover photo shoot and feature from Superstreet Bike Magazine. The winner will be announced on or about December 1, 2012.
All finalists who are invited to attend the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown presented by Yamalube and agree to bring their Yamaha custom sport bike to compete at one of the U.S. Grand Prix Race Bike Shows on site, will also receive two (2) tickets to a designated U.S. Grand Prix race (plus parking tickets), in addition to the three hundred dollars ($300) in cash for travel assistance. Finalists invited to attend the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdowns will be asked to adhere to the following schedule:

Finalists invited to attend the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown at either the U.S. Grand Prix Laguna Seca, or the U.S. Grand Prix Indianapolis, will be required to leave their Yamaha bikes under the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown judging tent throughout the duration of the event weekend. Yamaha sport bikes competing in the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown that are removed from the judging tent during the event weekend without prior permission from the show organizer will be immediately disqualified. Finalists will be asked to bring detailing supplies to the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown and to attend the tent at least two (2) times a day to clean their bike. Finalists who do not return to the tent agree to allow organizers of the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown and/or Yamaha staff to clean their bikes in their absence. Finalists may not bring any additional props, posters, or trophies to the tent without prior permission from the show organizer. Signage for the bikes will be provided in advance of the event. Absolutely no alcohol, nudity, or partial nudity is permitted inside the tent at any time.
Yamaha custom bikes will be judged by the public vote. Public visitors attending the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown tent at each venue will be required to register in order to vote. Registration will involve providing a current name and address, and/or a valid email address. Completion of the registration process is mandatory in order to receive a ballot. Once visitors have registered, they will be provided with a ballot, which they will be required to return to a designated SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown staff member. Only one ballot per registrant will be accepted. All ballots will be counted on site, no fewer than two times by SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown staff. Entrants receiving the most number of public votes in each category will be designated the winner, and will be notified prior to 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday of each event. Winners must be present at the designated award ceremony time to receive their trophy. Finalists participating in the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown are not eligible to participate in voting. Ballots that are not completed in accordance with the ballot instructions and are deemed by Bike Show staff to be spoiled will be destroyed and will not be included in the final count.
By attending the SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown all participants agree that Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A., their partners, affiliates and designated representatives shall own all photographs and video taken of the participating Yamaha custom bikes while on site at any of the designated SSb Yamaha Custom Showdown venues and that Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., their partners, affiliates and designated representatives may exploit, edit, modify, and distribute such photos, pictures, video and all elements of such photo shoot, and any and all media now known or not currently known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without compensation, permission or notification to participants, winners or any third party.
GENERAL: By participating, each entrant agrees: (a) to abide by these Official Rules and decisions of Yamaha and judges and Bike Show staff, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to this Bike Show; (b) to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Yamaha, and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, dealerships and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the forgoing (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind to persons, including death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from entrant’s participation in the Bike Show, the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any award (including any travel or activity related thereto) or Released Parties’ use of any of the rights granted herein; and (c) to the use of his/her name, city and state of residence, likeness, photograph and/or other likeness and entry (including photograph of bike) for programming, advertising, publicity and promotional purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter known (including on Yamaha’s website), and in perpetuity by Yamaha and its designees, without compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law, and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so. Released Parties are not responsible for: late, lost, damaged, delayed, inaccurate, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, undeliverable, destroyed, mutilated, garbled or stolen entries or Yamaha Custom Bike attending the Bike Show; the incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry or other information or the failure to capture any such information; any lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; other errors or malfunctions of any kind relating to or in connection with the Bike Show, whether computer, network, typographical, printing, human, mechanical, electronic or otherwise, including, without limitation, errors or malfunctions which may occur in connection with the administration of the Bike Show, the processing or judging of entries, the announcement of the awards or in any Bike Show related materials. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to participants' or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Bike Show. Yamaha may disqualify anyone from participating in the Bike Show or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that such person is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Bike Show by cheating, deception or other unfair playing practices, or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrant or Yamaha’s representatives or who is otherwise in violation of these Official Rules. ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE BIKE SHOW MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, YAMAHA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. Yamaha reserves the right in its sole discretion to terminate or suspend any portion of the Bike Show should any kind of non-authorized human or non human intervention or other causes corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Bike Show.
