Supercross March 1, 2008 | Indianapolis, IN Results

For the second time this season, Chad Reed and Josh Hill swept the top two positions this time in the ninth round of the AMA Supercross season in Indianapolis, IN. on Saturday, March 1. Aboard his L&M Racing YZ450F, Reed led from start to finish while Hill worked up from a mediocre start to take second on his own Yamaha Factory Racing YZ450F. Reed’s sixth victory of the season extends his championship lead to 34 points over Kevin Windham, while Hill’s strong runner-up finish – the second of his young Supercross career – moves him closer to L&M Racing’s Nathan Ramsey, who is sixth in points.

Supercross... Reed’s evening at the RCA Dome, packed with 57,284 spectators, could scarcely have gone any better. He won his heat race, then grabbed the holeshot and led the entire 20-lap main event, eventually finishing a comfortable 10.6 seconds ahead of Hill. “I’m super pumped to be back on top of the podium going into Daytona,” Reed grinned afterwards. “And now I am going to do everything I can to stay here!” Yamaha Supercross team manager Jim Perry added, “I was glad to see both Chad and Josh on the podium and it’s nice to get another Yamaha 1-2 sweep in the Supercross class.”

Supercross Lites... For the first time in his career, Hill set the quickest practice time among all Supercross competitors – including Yamaha’s own Chad Reed. But when the field rushed into the first turn he found himself back in sixth as Reed escaped with the lead. So the teenager coolly got it together, found his rhythm, and began picking riders off. He went around Ryan Dungey on lap seven, past Windham on lap 12, and by Andrew Short on lap 13. Then with four laps remaining he capitalized on a crash by Davi Millsaps to claim second. “It was great to get back on the podium,” Hill said afterwards. “My confidence is high right now and hopefully I can challenge for podium spots the remainder of the season.”
