In Cable, Wis. on Saturday, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Nathan Titus and Seth Thorson went 1-2 in Pro Am 30+ aboard their Nytro RTX sleds, taking first and second in the championship in the process. Titus then grabbed another win in Pro Sprint and a second in Pro Distance, earning second place in the standings in both classes. And finally, 16-year-old support rider Mitchell Sebastian and his Phazer finished third in the Junior race, landing “Rookie of the Year” honors.
In Wisconsin, Titus and his Nytro RTX came into Saturday’s finale ready to do battle in Pro-Am 30+, Pro Sprint and Pro Distance – in all, 50 miles of racing in just a few hours. And the course was a hard one – five miles of tight woods per lap, requiring split-second timing and agility to get through the trees and over the bumpy ground quickly. Titus had a great run in the morning two-lap Pro Am 30+
race, taking the win and earning the championship in one fantastic dash. With the course growing ever bumpier, he followed up with the three-lap Pro Sprint event, finding himself tightening up in the final lap but still scoring the win to secure second in points for the year. Then came the last race of Nathan’s cross-country season, a grueling five laps of the now-hammered course. He paced himself for the first two laps and then turned up the intensity as his arms and legs began to feel the demands of the course, prevailing to earn a fine second and another second-place in the championship. “The power delivery was awesome today,” Titus remarked. “Such a technical course requires a lot of getting on and off the gas, and the Nytro engine pulled strong out of every corner. It’s also super reliable – I really pounded it today and it handled all 50 miles of abuse with absolutely no complaint.”
