Snowmobile - Grass Drags September 9, 2007 | Lino Lakes, MN Results

Haydays Results... Yamaha snowmobiles took some important wins in the country’s biggest snowmobile event, the 41st annual Hay Days grass drags in Lino Lakes, Minn. on Sept. 8-9. With a spectator count approaching 55,000 for the weekend and nearly 700 drivers competing, the event is the unofficial kickoff for the winter snowmobile season. Yamaha sleds grabbed a total of four victories in the Pro and Semi-Pro classes, including two for the Apex and one apiece for the Vector and Vmax.

On Saturday, with the bleachers full and fans lining up three-deep at the fences, Pat Hauck started the blue-and-white streak by winning the 800 Improved Stock class on the fast 500-foot grass drag strip aboard his Vmax for the second year in a row. His pro victory opened the floodgates for Yamaha in the semi-pro category, where June Delveaux won 600 Stock on her Hauck Powersports Apex (after Chris Weise was disqualified for red-lighting his Lustilla Racing Apex at the start), and Weise took his Lustilla Racing Vector to victory in 500 Stock ahead of Matt Thies on his Hauck Powersports '07 RS Nytro. Jim Jones wrapped up the day for Yamaha with a close second in the 600 Improved Stock pro class on his Hauck Powersports Apex – by just .004 sec!

Sunday featured pro classes only, and Jones earned the lion’s share of trophies for Hauck Powersports and Yamaha with a win in Stock 600 Multi Pipe on his new 2008 Apex, a second in 600S aboard a new 2008 FX Nytro and a fine third in 500 Stock on his '07 RS Nytro. “These Yamaha snowmobiles are just so durable – we run them up and down the dirt all day long and we haven’t broken one yet!” he grinned. “The competition is always tough at Hay Days,” added team owner Pat Hauck. “Just making the final means you’ve done a good job, and to get on the podium is huge. But to take a new FX Nytro that’s only been on the track for three weeks and put it in second against the best competition in the world, that’s incredible!”
