Pro Classes... Yamaha Apex snowmobile racer Joel Diamond nearly had the MIRA Kewadin Casino Blizzard 300 wrapped up on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Kinross, Mich. But with just 30 laps to go in the 250-lap, 125-mile endurance oval race, a modified suspension arm, damaged in a crash earlier in the event, finally buckled, dropping the favorite out of contention for the win.

Until that point Diamond’s four-stroke Yamaha Apex was definitely the sled to beat. His MDR team took the lead early, ran in the top three positions throughout the event and had a strong lead with a short 15 miles to go. “We still had a great day,” Diamond reflected afterwards. “It just ended in disappointment.”
