 Performance
  • 3-cylinder Genesis 120™ engine
The Genesis 120 engine is compact and lightweight. Its long stroke and four-valve design produces a tremendous amount of torque for corner-to-corner acceleration on the trail. The broad torque curve is easy for clutch tuners to hit and allows riders to have instant power after backshifting. The three-cylinder engine debuted in 2005.
  • Direct-to-crankshaft clutching
Instead of using a gear reduction, the Genesis 120 engine has the primary clutch directly attached to the crankshaft. This reduces parts, complexity and weight, resulting in a great product for consumers. It also allows the engine to be mounted deeper in the chassis to deliver a lower center of gravity, further enhancing the sled’s cornering stability. The YVXC primary spins at 8500 rpm to transfer power from the engine to the secondary and on to the track.
  • 20x156x1.25-inch Camoplast Rip Saw track
The Camoplast Rip Saw track is widely accepted as the best OEM track available. The 1.25-inch lugs are designed to deliver maximum acceleration, deceleration and cornering bite. It is specifically engineered to be lightweight yet durable, thanks to its unique internal construction. The Rip Saw track was a joint venture between Camoplast and Yamaha. The VK Professional’s extra-large version of the Rip Saw gives it excellent flotation in fresh snow.
  • Rear-exiting exhaust
The exhaust is routed out the back of the sled in order to optimize and maximize airflow through the engine. The tuned system is specifically engineered to produce the Genesis 120’s broad powerband and also to help keep the sled in balance.
  • Lightweight hydraulic brake system
The lightweight hydraulic brake system delivers solid stopping power and resists fading. It runs strong all day long, thanks to its ventilated design. The brake system also features Yamaha’s exclusive mechanical parking brake for peace of mind while parked on an incline or on the trailer.
  • Lightweight forged pistons
The forged pistons used in the Genesis 120 engine are engineered for lightweight and still allow high compression rates of 11.3:1 on 87 Octane gas. The piston design came out with the Genesis 120 engine on the Vector™-class sleds.
 Handling
  • Second generation front suspension geometry
The geometry of the second generation front suspension features short spindles and long, curved A-arms. The suspension was engineered to deliver excellent cornering stability and consistent turning effort throughout its travel stroke. It delivers 9 inches of vertical travel and sets the skis at 42.7 inches. Steering is consistent, because the spindles are maintained at a constant 23 degrees. The curved A-arms help avoid undersnow obstacles.
  • Gas cell front shocks
The shocks on the VK Professional’s second generation front suspension geometry deliver consistent performance with good fade resistance. They give the VK Professional its nice, plush ride quality.
  • Ultra-rigid Deltabox™ chassis
The Deltabox chassis is designed specifically to house the Genesis engine family. It supports the engine and utilizes it in forming the most rigid chassis on the market. The more rigid the chassis, the more consistent the sled will handle.
  • CF die cast construction
Yamaha’s Controlled Flow casting technique is used for many of the structural pieces on the chassis. The CF process draws the molten metal into the mold under a vacuum, reducing the formation of air bubbles in the material. As a result, pieces can be made much thinner and still deliver the strength characteristics of a conventionally cast, thicker piece.
  • Traditional handlebars with center grab strap
The VK Professioinal has a traditional-style handlebar with a center grab strap. This setup helps users to maneuver through fresh snow or tight spaces.
  • Wide plastic skis
The VK Professional’s wide plastic skis give it excellent flotation over fresh snow, while also giving it good trail cornering ability.
 Comfort
  • ProAction Plus™ rear suspension with articulated tail section
The ProAction Plus rear suspension on the VK Professional has an articulated rail extension to give it great over-snow performance while in reverse. It also has the unique quick-adjust system to change both shock and spring rate settings on the upper arm.
  • Removable passenger seat
The seat on the VK Professional is very roomy to accommodate two riders in full gear. The passenger section can be easily removed if desired. When hauling loads is the order of the day, the passenger section can be removed without tools for added cargo space. The easy adjustable backrest can be repositioned to give the driver a rest on solo runs.
  • Cavernous under-seat storage
The seat on the VK Professional flips up to open a large storage area beneath it. The space has a tool kit integrated into it. Consumers can carry extra spare parts, a full collection of tools and a salami sandwich for lunch under the seat.
  • Tow hitch
The VK Professional has a tow hitch mount on the rear of the sled. Consumers can tow a trailer sled for more cargo.
  • Extra tall windshield
The VK Professional is all about getting the job done, no matter what, so the windshield very large to protect both driver and passenger from the elements.
  • Digitally controlled hand and thumb warmers
The VK Professional’s hand and thumb warmers have been consistently rated among the best in the industry. They are individually-controlled, with the settings shown on the digital gauge so that riders can see them. Owners can choose from 10 settings on the grips and 10 settings on the thumb warmers, as opposed to the hi/lo settings of most other sleds on the market. The passenger hand grip warmers have a separate on/off switch.
