Another year together and another championship… some things never change! The results spoke for themselves as the Graves Motorsports prepared YZF-R6 of Ben Bostrom dominated last season with six wins and the AMA Supersport Championship. In addition, Graves Motorsports teammate Josh Herrin scored five podiums and a win at Barber Motorsports Park on the R6.
The alliance between Factory Yamaha and Graves Motorsports is entering its 12th season and has been one of the most successful partnerships in Motorsports. Yamaha provides inside engineering assistance while Chuck Graves’ own company, Graves Motorsports, provides its own in-house performance products to complete the bike’s racing package.
New for this season Graves Motorsports is now the exclusive U.S. Distributor of Yamaha Engineering Corporation (YEC) Racing Parts. YEC factory race kit parts, many of which are homologated for AMA Pro Racing, are drawn directly from Yamaha’s in-house World Superbike and World Supersport development programs. With Ben Bostrom making the jump to Yamaha Factory Racing and the American Superbike class, Josh Herrin returns to the Graves Motorsports Team aboard the Graves Motorsports prepared YZF-R6 to compete in the Daytona SportBike class. Having had two full seasons and multiple race wins with the Graves Team, Josh comes into 2009 with increased confidence and championship expectations. Assisting Josh will be veteran crew chief Curtice Thom and race technician Skye Girard.
Joining Josh on the 2009 Graves Team in the Daytona SportBike class will be the 2008 AMA Road Race Rookie of the Year Tommy Aquino. Just 16 years old, Tommy made quite a splash in 2008 with multiple top finishes while still learning the tracks and pace of AMA Supersport. Assisting Tommy will be championship winning crew chief Oliver Hutchinson and race technician Gary Dean.
In addition to Team Owner Chuck Graves and the crew for each bike, the Graves Motorsports Team includes Race Team Manager Rick Williams, Suspension Technician Chris Lessing, and Transport Driver Will Bastian. Kyle Guglielmetti and Jerry Daggett will provide Daytona 200 support.
